Technical and wool-insulated outerwear: the Sharpe technical parka, the Wainwright packable jacket, and the Dufflewool range, which runs to the Monty duffle coat, the Hawkins and Shepherd parkas, the Bonington Puffa Jacket, the Oak field jacket, the Ryder MA1 bomber and the Silas and Marilla quilted liner jackets. The Chapman souvenir flight jacket and the women's Bacall cropped trench complete it.
No. The weather-facing pieces are showerproof rather than waterproof. They shed rain and wind and are built for commuting, walking and travelling, not for sustained downpours.
The Sharpe is a technical showerproof shell that takes its warmth from what you layer underneath. The Hawkins is a showerproof cotton twill insulated with Dufflewool, Gloverall's own 100% wool fill, so it carries its warmth inside the coat. Choose the Sharpe for wet and mild, the Hawkins for properly cold.
No. The Outdoor collection is made in China. Gloverall's English-made coats are in the Heritage Collection, which covers the duffle coats, peacoats and wool overcoats cut and stitched at our factory outside London.
It varies by style. The Sharpe, the Wainwright and the Silas run from S to 2XL; the Monty, Bonington, Hawkins, Oak, Chapman, Ryder and Shepherd from XS to 2XL; and the women's Bacall and Marilla from XS to XL. Full measurements are on each product page.
Gloverall Outdoor
If you want a parka, a Puffa jacket or a packable shell that does not look like it came off a gear website, this is where to start. Gloverall has made outerwear since 1951, and the Outdoor collection applies the same thinking to a more technical range: pieces built for real weather and real movement, and for wearing somewhere other than a trail.
Technical Parkas
The Sharpe Technical Hooded Parka is the technical end of the collection. It is cut from a durable showerproof fabric with an ergonomic hood built to move with you rather than restrict you, which suits anyone who wants proper weather protection in a coat that still works in a city. In Black, Navy or Red, in sizes S to 2XL.
Dufflewool Parkas
The Hawkins Dufflewool Parka for men and the Shepherd Dufflewool Parka for women take the same fishtail parka shape and insulate it with Dufflewool, Gloverall's own 100% wool fill, rather than down or synthetic wadding. Fixed hood, four front pockets, internal waist adjuster, and the Hawkins in a showerproof cotton twill. Both in Navy and Army Green, in sizes XS to 2XL.
The Bonington Puffa Jacket
The Bonington Dufflewool Puffa Jacket is a wool puffer jacket: showerproof outer, quilted over wool fill, with a three-piece hood on elastic adjusters and internal ribbed cuffs. It carries the strongest colours in the collection, in Berry Red, Bright Orange, Navy and Racing Green, in sizes XS to 2XL.
Field Jackets, Bombers and Flight Jackets
The Oak Dufflewool Field Jacket is a four-pocket field jacket with wool insulation, in Black, Navy and Mushroom. The Ryder Dufflewool MA1 Bomber Jacket is the MA1 shape cut in wool fleece, keeping the nylon panelling and orange lining of the original, and it is unisex. The Chapman Souvenir Flight Jacket is the lightest of the three: unlined, with a two-way zip front, angled pockets and adjustable cuffs, in Black and Navy. All three run from XS to 2XL.
Packable and Quilted Layers
The Wainwright Packable Jacket compresses small enough to live in a bag and holds its shape well enough for everyday wear. At 80gsm it is the jacket for travelling light without looking like it, in Black or Racing Green, in sizes S to 2XL. The Silas and Marilla quilted liner jackets are the mid-layer: Dufflewool insulation, onion quilting, a two-way zip, in Navy and Racing Green.
Women's Outdoor
For women the collection runs to the Shepherd Dufflewool Parka in Navy and Army Green, the Marilla Dufflewool Quilted Liner Jacket in Navy and Racing Green, and the Bacall Cropped Trench, a cleaner and more contemporary silhouette in Navy or Camel, in sizes XS to XL. The unisex Ryder MA1 is cut to be worn by anyone.
Who This Collection Is For
Gloverall Outdoor suits people who spend real time outside, walking, commuting or travelling, and who want outerwear that goes from outdoors to indoors without a change of clothes. If you find technical outdoor brands too utilitarian and traditional heritage brands too precious, this sits between the two.
