Gloverall x Norbit

Gloverall x Norbit

Gloverall’s collaboration with Norbit puts two of Britain’s outerwear traditions through a Japanese, technical-outerwear lens. The line-up takes two of our most enduring silhouettes, the Monty and the Morris, and rebuilds them in a three-layer performance fabric more at home on a mountainside than a naval deck.

Who is Norbit?

Norbit is a Japanese label re-launched in 2018 by Hiroshi Nozawa, a veteran of Japan’s fashion scene. Its mantra - field, travel, chill - points at a relaxed surface over serious technical intent: hybridised military outerwear, engineered with a Japanese eye for detail. Partnering with Gloverall gave Norbit two of Britain’s most recognisable silhouettes to apply that approach to.

The Gloverall x Norbit Mid-Length Monty Duffle Coat

A shorter, more mobile take on the Original Monty, built for city errands and countryside walks alike. The shell is a three-layer performance fabric - Polartec® fleece for warmth, a waterproof membrane for protection, and an anti-static tricot backing - reinforced with Cordura® nylon panels at the high-wear zones. The signature wooden toggles and jute rope fastenings remain, joined by elbow patches, three-way front pockets, and twin rear game pockets with concealed zips, all cut to an oversized fit and designed in Japan. Shop the Mid-Length Monty Duffle Coat - produced in limited numbers.

Men's Gloverall x Norbit Morris Coat by Gloverall

The Gloverall x Norbit Morris Coat

Longer and roomier than the Monty, built from the same three-layer fabric and Cordura® reinforcements, with a little more room to move. Traditional buffalo horn toggles and leather loop fastenings sit alongside a spindle drawcord at the waist and four-way front pockets borrowed from hunting-jacket tradition - practical detailing without shouting about it. Also cut to an oversized fit and designed in Japan. Shop the Morris Coat - a limited-edition run.

Both pieces sit within the Gloverall x Norbit collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Gloverall x Norbit collaboration?

A partnership between Gloverall and Japanese label Norbit, reworking two of Gloverall’s classic duffle coat silhouettes - the Monty and the Morris - in technical, weather-resistant fabric.

What makes the fabric different from a standard duffle coat?

Both pieces are built from a three-layer performance fabric: Polartec® fleece for warmth, a waterproof membrane, and an anti-static tricot backing, with Cordura® nylon reinforcement panels finished for water repellence. A standard Gloverall duffle coat is cut from wool; these are built for a different kind of weather entirely.

Is the Gloverall x Norbit range made in England?

No - the collaboration is designed in Japan, and we don’t describe it as Made in England. Every coat in Gloverall’s own Heritage Collection is made in England at our factory outside London; the Norbit pieces are a different range, built to a different brief, and we’re precise about which is which.

Is the Gloverall x Norbit collection a limited edition?

Yes. Both the Mid-Length Monty Duffle Coat and the Morris Coat are produced in limited numbers, in a single Navy colourway.
