Why so few duffle coats are still made in England

How to check where a duffle coat is made
1. Read the sewn-in label, not the marketing. Country of origin, where given, is on the garment's care and content label — not in the brand story, the lookbook or the homepage banner. 2. Look for a plain sentence on the product page. "Made in England" — ideally with detail: at what kind of factory, from what cloth. Vague phrasing ("British design", "heritage craftsmanship", "inspired by our London roots") is not an origin claim. 3. Look for consistency. A brand that manufactures in England will usually say so on every product it applies to, and will say where the rest of its range is made too. Precision in one place and silence in another tells you where the boundary is. 4. If it isn't stated, ask. Check the brand's own product page for the specific coat you're looking at — and if it doesn't say, ask the brand directly.
