Children's School Coats

Every coat in this collection is made in England and cut to outlast the school year: the cloakroom peg, the playground and the school run. Duffle coats have been Britain's school coat for generations for a simple reason: wooden toggles are easier for small, cold or gloved hands than any zip, and when one is lost it can be replaced rather than the whole coat.

Most uniform policies ask for a plain, dark coat. You will find navy, black, charcoal and bottle green across the range, from the wool Original Duffle Coat in ages 2 to 16 to showerproof gabardine and ripstop styles for wetter school runs. Cut unisex, so the same coat works for a younger brother or sister afterwards.

If your child wears a blazer, choose the size that fits over it, not over a jumper. Between sizes, size up: sleeves are the first thing a growth spurt claims.
