Last year, we partnered with our friends at Dawson Denim—Brighton-based champions of traditional denim craftsmanship—to introduce a small, curated selection of their pieces on our site. Their thoughtful approach to design, meticulous construction, and deep respect for heritage made for a natural alignment with our own values.
Now, we’re delighted to be expanding that offering.
Once again, Gloverall.com will host a carefully chosen edit of Dawson Denim’s signature pieces—this time including fresh takes of their celebrated Type II Jacket, as well as the Wide Leg Fit Jean, available on our site for the very first time.
Each piece is crafted in Japan using organic selvedge denim, woven on vintage Toyoda shuttle looms in Okayama. The garments are then quality-inspected and finished at Dawson Denim’s Brighton workshop, ensuring every item meets their exacting standards before it reaches you.
The Type II Jacket returns in two distinctive shades: Washed Indigo and Raw Ecru. Both feature period-authentic details like pleated fronts, flap chest pockets, and back cinch tabs—staying true to the mid-century silhouette that inspired them.
New to the collection, we introduce the Wide Leg Fit Jean in Washed Indigo. Designed with a full leg, high-rise waist and generous opening, this is a shape rooted in utility but cut with quiet elegance. Crafted from 14.25oz organic red line selvedge denim and finished with traditional Dawson flourishes—exposed rear rivets, a two-prong cinch, and a hand-branded leather patch—they’re built to fade with grace, and to feel like old favourites from the first wear.
We’re also pleased to reintroduce the Standard Fit Jean—now available in Dark Indigo. Still true to its 1950s-inspired shape, this latest iteration is cut from the same weighty Japanese selvedge denim and undergoes an intricate ageing process that echoes years of honest wear. Soft creases, high-contrast fades and Dawson’s signature stone thread stitching all remain, but the new finish brings a fresh perspective to a proven classic—offering the same easy shape with added character straight out of the box.
