    • Background

Work our Ainslie Donkey Jacket into your outerwear wardrobe this season. A transitional style that works for layering, turn up the collar to expose the detail.

Read more about why it's called a donkey jacket.

The donkey jacket is British workwear royalty: the short, tough wool jacket of road gangs and dockers, built for people who worked outdoors in all weathers. The Ainslie takes that heritage and civilises it, cut in Gloverall's double-faced wool blend cloth, plain on the face with a tonal check on the reverse that shows under the collar and inside the cuffs.

Three utilitarian patch pockets and a buttoned front keep the working character; the 80% wool cloth and English making elevate it. It comes in Navy, Grey and Light Camel, in sizes XS to 2XL. Wear it where a chore jacket would go, but colder: over heavy knitwear, with denim or moleskin, doing the donkey jacket's original job of keeping weather out without getting in the way.

Model is 6’1”, chest size 38” and wears a size M.
