Gloverall x Dawson Denim
Dawson Denim works from a mews in Brighton — making jeans and jackets by hand on vintage industrial sewing machines salvaged from the 1950s and 60s, using organic selvedge denim woven on Toyoda shuttle looms in Okayama, Japan. Every piece is signed and numbered by its maker. It is, by any measure, the opposite of how most denim is produced in 2025 — and it is exactly the kind of craft approach that makes the partnership with Gloverall a natural fit.
Shared Values, Different Expertise
Gloverall has made outerwear in Northamptonshire since the brand opened its own factory in the 1960s. Dawson Denim makes every garment by hand in Brighton. Both brands are committed to British production, quality materials, and the kind of slow, considered design that results in clothing made to last rather than clothing made to be replaced. The Gloverall x Dawson Denim collection brings Dawson's signature denim pieces to Gloverall's audience — not as a co-branded novelty, but as a genuine introduction to another form of British craft.
The Type II Jacket
The Dawson Denim Type II Jacket is the essential trucker-style jacket — crafted from 14.25oz double indigo organic cotton, red line selvedge denim, woven in Japan and finished at Dawson's Brighton workshop. Two front pockets, one internal pocket (sized for tablets and smartphones), a front button fastening with Reese 101 buttonholes, and ornate cuff stitching. Each jacket is handmade, signed, and numbered. It wears in with use in the way that only selvedge denim can — fading at the creases and edges, developing a character that is entirely specific to the person wearing it.
The Selvedge Jeans
The collection includes the Standard Fit Jean — drawing its silhouette from classic 1950s and early '60s denim, cut with a relaxed fit through the thigh and a balanced rise. Also available is the Wide Leg Fit Jean in Washed Indigo — a generous leg and high-rise waist rooted in utility, but cut with quiet elegance. Both are made from the same 14.25oz organic selvedge denim, finished with exposed rear rivets, a two-prong cinch, and a hand-branded leather patch.
A Partnership in Craft
The Gloverall x Dawson Denim collection does not attempt to combine the two brands' aesthetics into a single hybrid product. Instead, it offers Dawson's best pieces alongside Gloverall's outerwear — a complementary edit that shares a belief in making things properly. The selvedge jeans pair naturally with Gloverall's Submariner Jumper and either the Greenwell Anorak or a mid-length Monty on top. Both brands make clothing you buy once and wear for years.
