Gloverall x Longchamp

Gloverall x Longchamp

Back in 1993, the unmistakable duffle-coat toggle—an emblem of British style—found its way into the world of French leather goods. It became the signature bamboo fastening on Longchamp’s now-iconic Le Roseau bag.

Three decades later, that story comes full circle. This time the toggle, reimagined in maple wood, makes its return on the Longchamp x Gloverall duffle coat. A meeting point of heritage and modern design, it ties together two houses steeped in craft. Alongside, Le Roseau itself is revisited: a spacious, forward-looking design, updated as part of the collaboration. Two signature pieces. Two contemporary classics. Equally at home in London, Paris, or anywhere in between.

Since 1951, Gloverall has been synonymous with the duffle coat. With its generous hood and distinctive fastenings, the coat carries a character as strong as those who’ve worn it: from Field Marshal Montgomery to Jean Cocteau and Stanley Kubrick.

Born of the Royal Navy, it later became the uniform of pacifist counterculture. Its status was sealed when women adopted it—turning a military staple into a symbol of freedom and easy elegance. Think Brigitte Bardot. Think Alexa Chung. Nonchalance on Liam Gallagher, timeless charm on Paddington Bear. The duffle coat has never bent to trends. It has simply outlived them.

“Longchamp is naturally curious about the world and craftsmanship beyond its traditional domain of leather goods. To tell the fabulous story of our Le Roseau bag, which was inspired over 30 years ago by duffle-coat toggles, I wanted to go back to the beginning by working with Gloverall, manufacturers in London since 1951. They are true artisans, and we wanted to combine our savoir-faire and our love of beautiful things. Every detail of this collaboration has been carefully considered, right down to the label which brings together the French Tricolore and the Union Jack.” – Sophie Delafontaine, Creative Director of Longchamp

“Our collaboration with Longchamp reflects our deeply held, shared values: heritage, savoir-faire and a passion for timeless style. Today, we are celebrating a creative encounter between two historic brands to reinterpret our respective icons.” – Ivana Krajcova, General Manager of Gloverall
