Three. The Aran Jumper in Burnt Orange, a cable knit in the classic Aran pattern and the deepest of the three shades. The Oxford Brushed Lambswool Jumper, softer and lighter, with a brushed finish that lifts the colour. And the Lambswool Crew Neck, the plainest of the three and the easiest to layer under a coat.
In Britain. Gloverall's knitwear is knitted in England and Scotland, depending on the style, by mills that have specialised in wool for generations. It is worth being precise about this: the coats are made in England, and the knitwear is made in Britain.
The Aran runs the full range, XS to 2XL, and is the one to start with if you are between sizes or want room to layer. The lambswool styles run to their own scale, shown on each product page. All three are cut to wear over a shirt and under a coat.
Hand wash only, in cool water, and never in the machine. Strong colours like burnt orange hold best when they are washed rarely and aired often: most of the time a jumper needs airing rather than washing. Do not bleach, dry flat rather than hanging, and pull the jumper back into shape while it is still damp. Direct sunlight while drying is what fades a strong colour fastest, so dry it indoors.
