Gloverall’s progressive Spring-Summer 20 capsule collection takes inspiration from ocean rescue, looking at technical performance fabrics and detailing. This collection reinforces our ethos of hard-wearing functional garments.
This will be our first fully unisex and gender-neutral collection, ranging in sizes XXS- XL.
There are three key fabrics used throughout the capsule collection. A fourth textured fabric has been introduced for our Severn Parka, which will be sold exclusively sold by Gloverall.
Poseidon Blue/Silver Membrane Backed
Our Gloverall SS20 collection features a Poseidon Blue and Silver Membrane backed fabric, manufactured by one of Japan’s leading textile manufacturers, established in 1943. With vast heritage and knowledge of producing high-quality synthetic fibres and fabrics, we can ensure that our coats with the Poseidon Blue and Silver Membrane fabric are protective, durable and unique garments.
The fabric is 51% PA (nylon/polyamide) - 49% CO (cotton). It is showerproof and has three layers of breathable cloth perfect for a lightweight trans-seasonal piece. Rest assured that the Poseidon Blue Severn Parka and Mersey Duffle will keep you dry on a rainy commute but will also be breathable enough to wear on a stuffy train.
The beautiful iridescent finish of the fabric encapsulates the lifeboat and ocean rescue theme, reflecting the shine that the sun gives when hitting off the sea. This Poseidon Blue colour has been developed exclusively for us at Gloverall to ensure the perfect fit with our capsule collection.
Khaki/Orange Mesh Backed
Crafted and manufactured in Italy by technical fabric specialists, this cotton-blend twill is 51% PA - 49% CO, showerproof and backed with orange mesh.
This particular fabric continues the colourway of our lifeboat and ocean rescue theme. The orange mesh backing is inspired by life jackets.
This motivated the use of the reverse mesh side to be used on the Khaki colourway of our Tyne Jacket. The vest overlay design featured in our lightweight summer jacket encompasses the ocean rescue theme in a more literal way with bright orange panelling.
Gloverall SS20 also features an innovative high-tech blue tie-dye fabric. This innovative fabric is manufactured in Italy by a heritage company, leading in the market of cotton and cotton blends for rainwear. They create textiles for the military and personal protection, helping us to create our capsule collection of protective, functional and technical outerwear.
Our 92% CO - 8% PA fabric is showerproof, lightweight and mesh bonded. An eye-catching tie-dyed fabric, perfect to make a statement for Spring Summer. Some of our favourite pieces that include the rip-stop fabric are the Mersey Duffle, Tyne Jacket and Severn Parka.
The fourth and final fabric used within Gloverall’s SS20 is produced in Japan by the same leading textile manufacturers who developed our exclusive Poseidon Blue colour. They specialise in high-quality synthetic fibres and fabrics, as well as in customised fabric treatments. This allows our textile manufacturers to produce exquisite fabrics with unique visual and tactile properties.
The 100% NY (nylon) fabric is the lightest weight fabric within our SS20 capsule collection. It is a C6 water repellent fabric with a beautiful texture, an effect which is achieved with a tumbling machine.
The C6 fabric is a type of waterproofing that meets international environmental protection requirements. Being a compact weave, the fabric has been pre-shrunk for extra density and strength. Ensuring that it is both extremely lightweight for the warmer months but also high-strength and durable to last season after season.
This fabric is for the fourth colourway of our Severn Parka launching soon and sold exclusively at Gloverall online.
Our Spring-Summer 20 collection is lightweight and pushes the boundaries of our outerwear capabilities. The collection looks to the future of outerwear and our oceans as a whole. The exciting stand-alone capsule encompasses Gloverall’s innovative imagination, whilst showcasing garments crafted to the highest quality.
